To enhance services to patients in Mallow General Hospital funds raised by the Friends (through donations and a charity Coffee Morning) in 2005 were spent in the purchase of essential special equipment – over and above normal HSE budgetary spend – for two areas in the Hospital.
1. For the Radiological Services Department of the MGH
The Friends funded the purchase of a Lateral Hip Imaging Support Unit.
This piece of equipment was purchased at a request of
Anne Donovan,
Radiological Services,
Department Manager,
Mallow General Hospital.
2. For the Physiotherapy Department of the MGH
The Friends funded the purchase of Insight Infrared Video Goggles, which are used to improve diagnosis and treatment of patients suffering from vesicular disorders e.g. vertigo.
This piece of equipment (which was imported from the USA) was purchased at the request of
Anne-Marie Cronin,
Physiotherapy Manager,
Mallow General Hospital.
The Friends of Mallow Hospital ,going forward, hope to help with the setting up of a vestibular outpatient outpatient service in the M G H – to provide assessment for individuals experiencing diagnosis of vertical and of balance problems.
This service would operate primarily through specialised vestibular physiotherapy ( known as Vestibular Rehabilitation Service or VRT ).
The support for Mallow General Hospital through your donations through this Web Site is most appreciated.
A big Thank You ????????????
